Custom Round Mirror for a Backlit Bathroom Feature in Trigg

Most bathroom mirrors sit flat over the basin, and you never really look at the mirror itself, only at what it shows you. This one is different. It is round, lit from behind, and it is the feature of the room rather than an afterthought to it.

A round mirror as the feature of the room
The homeowner wanted a round, backlit mirror as the centrepiece of the bathroom. On a job like this, the mirror is the last piece to go in, so the first thing we do is tell the homeowner what their own trades need to build before we arrive: the round timber platform the mirror sits on, and the lighting. The platform is fixed forward of the wall so the light can sit behind it.
Once the homeowner let us know that work was finished, we came in to measure, made the mirror to suit, and returned to fit it. Everything about the timber and the light is the work of the homeowner’s trades. The mirror is ours.
A custom silver-backed mirror, cut to fit
The mirror itself is a standard silver-backed mirror, cut round and sized to the platform it sits on. The shape is the part that asks for care. A round mirror against a round timber edge has nowhere to hide a loose fit, so the glass has to follow that edge closely the whole way around. This one does, and that is most of the work on a piece like this. Get the fit right and there is nothing left to notice.
A mirror lit from behind
Because the platform sits forward of the wall, the lighting the homeowner’s trades installed sits behind the mirror and glows around its edge. The mirror reads as though it is lit from within, above the run of the floating timber vanity. It is the first thing the room shows you.
Custom mirrors for Perth bathrooms
We make mirrors to size and shape for bathrooms across Perth, from Trigg to the rest of the northern suburbs: round mirrors like this one, rectangles, and custom cuts to suit a vanity or a feature wall. If you have a shape in mind, we can make a mirror to fit it. Where a job calls for a platform or lighting behind the glass, we will tell you what to have your trades build first, then come and measure and fit once it is ready. A round mirror is one of the harder shapes to fit cleanly against a curved edge. Done right, you stop seeing the fit and just see the room.
